How to Throw Wooden Boomerangs

Grip
Use a Pinch Grip with the flat side facing away from you.
Alternate grip is "claw grip" with thumb one one side and index and middle fingers together on the other side. |

Layover / Tilt
Vertical or slightly off vertical approximately 10° to 30°
Windy = 0° or perfectly vertical. Light or No Wind = 10°-30° off vertical. |

Wind Direction
Right Handed = face into wind and turn right approximately 45 degrees.
Left Handed = face into wind and turn left approximately 45 degrees. |

Throw
Throw Boom overhand and release slightly up from the horizon, approximately 10 degrees. Give boomerang lots of spin when released! (Think of cracking a whip or casting a fishing line!)
Never throw a boomerang side arm! |

Catch
As Boom curves around and flattens out and starts to hover, use hands in a horizontal clapping motion. Similar to catching a flying disc.
Remember not to catch Boom if it is coming in too fast or at eye level. Let it crash to the ground. |
